Emergency Response Diver – I

If you are a member of a Public Safety Dive Team or its Leader, Diver’s World can assist in getting you prepared in your role. Working in cooperation with Emergency Response Diving International (ERDI), we can provide solutions that work for your dive team.

This first level Emergency Response Diving Course is designed to give the certified open water diver, or open water certified public safety diver, the fundamental skills needed to safely function as part of an OSHA and NFPA compliant public safety dive team in both the diver and tender roles.

What you can expect to learn:

  • Equipment preparation and selection, problem solving, tender skills, responding to a call, search patterns, scene evaluation, environmental risks, evidence handling
  • Dive skills including line signals, diver communications, executing multiple search patterns, victim recovery, emergency procedures, and decontamination procedures
  • How to continue and transition your ERD I training into ERD Ops Components courses

Scuba equipment for Public Safety Teams

 

Course Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18
  • SDI / NAUI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
  • Current First Aid and Oxygen Administration certifications

ERD-1 is a fast paced course designed for divers who are comfortable in the water, are good swimmers and can conduct basic scuba skills while maintaining neutral buoyancy. Watermanship proficiency will greatly improve the pace of this class. For divers or dive teams who need more dive time and skills development before enrolling the ERD-1, we recommend exploring our ERD Fundamentals preparatory course.

ERD-1 is an intensive course that usually spans a very long weekend or two weekends.

Your course fee includes:

  • ERDI Instructor(s)
  • ERD eLearning code
  • Classroom, pool and open water instruction
  • All of the public safety diver equipment that will be used in the pool and open water
  • ERD Certification materials

Students will need to provide all of their own scuba equipment for pool and training dives. Diver’s World has rental tanks, regs, BCDs and wetsuits if you do not own these items.

The ERD-1 Textbook is not included in the course but may be purchased separately. We recommend the each department have at least one textbook for the team.
