SDI Assistant Instructor Course

Ready to take your first big step toward becoming a scuba instructor? The SDI Assistant Instructor Course is designed to prepare you for the world of teaching and guiding new divers. As an Assistant Instructor, you’ll be able to conduct classroom and pool sessions, assist with open water training dives, and help inspire the next generation of divers — all while sharpening your leadership and teaching skills.

During the course, you’ll work closely with an SDI Instructor Trainer, developing your abilities in academic presentations, confined water teaching, and supervising open water activities. You'll gain valuable real-world experience and build a strong foundation for continuing on to full Instructor status. This course is small-group focused for plenty of one-on-one coaching and support.

Course Includes:

  • Academic workshops on teaching techniques and dive theory
  • Confined water and open water teaching evaluations
  • Skill demonstrations and real-world training scenarios
  • Tanks and weights provided (scuba gear available for rent)

Prerequisites:

  • SDI Divemaster certification (or equivalent)
  • Current CPR/First Aid and Oxygen Provider certifications
  • Minimum age 18
  • Minimum of 60 logged dives
